Something for the Weekend - coming down from a fashion induced high.

Yes its true, since my last "SFTW" post, I have been up on and have come back down from, a London Fashion Week  "Induced High" and with Milan starting yesterday, life is now all about the live stream for the next two weeks as I try and catch shows from Milan and then Paris.  It is not always easy to keep up with everything when you work, have a house to run and try to have some sort of a life, but I did manage to catch the Prada show yesterday, fell in love with the shoes, although thought some of the models looked as though they were struggling to walk in them and then saw Miucca almost "stack it" as she came out to take her "bow".  How funny!

Prada Fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear

So it looks as though my thoughts on the wear-ability of the shoes are right, I'd still like to have a pair to find out for myself obviously!

The beginning of the week saw a huge buzz about the release of the new Mulberry bag the "Del Rey" inspired by American singer "Lana".

The bag sent the twitterverse into meltdown as Mulberry announced the name of their new bag just hours before their AW12 catwalk show at Claridges.  Lana is undoubtedly a rising star with an amazing talent but I think I would have been happier had they called their new arm candy offering "Adele" after some home grown iconic talent.

Talking of Fashion Week there are a couple of over forties street style shots I saw on the Guardian website and have been waiting to share with you as I always like to point out that fashion isn't just for the young.......

London fashion week: Natalie Kingham at London Fashion Week

This is 40 year old Natalie Kingham who has the dream job of being head buyer for Matches wearing shirt and bag by Celine, Jumper from Topshop, Jeans from Current Elliott and boots by Christopher Kane.  I wouldn't mind a rummage through her closet or being allowed to give her Celine Luggage tote a little stroke......(why does it feel that everyone has one of these bags except me?).

London fashion week: Nancy Stannard at London Fashion Week

I also think that 51 year old Nancy rocks a red lip and looks fab in her Lanvin shoes and jeans and that there is something very "Debbie Harry" about her style.

Do you think these ladies "rock"?

Yesterday saw the hottest February day since 1988 with lots of us tweeting about wearing sunglasses for the first time or putting the boots away in favour of ballet flats.
I am most definitely up for buying some new sunglasses this year, the Dior ones have done me proud and I love them far more than my Victoria Beckham aviators which I rarely wear and my Mykita's only come out on special occassions when I am having an SJP moment or find myself swanning around the port in Marbella.

I don't look this good in mine.

I like to make a statement with my sunglasses and am torn between the Karen Walker no1's which you can't seem to buy in the UK.....

the  House of Harlow "Chelsea" which are supposed to be in stock on mywardrobe.com some time soon.....

and some twitter pals put the Chanel chain ones on my radar, but with prices starting at £277, I think I may have to give those a miss!

In light of the weather yesterday, I left my boots in the wardrobe but couldn't decide which shoes to wear for the school run but eventually opted for my Bloch pink ones.  I have been buying from Bloch for years as my daughters used to dance and it is a brand usually associated with dance shoes and accessories and although not cheap, their shoes are great quality, I have had these for a couple of years and they are still in fantastic condition and really comfortable to wear for anybody who can't quite stretch to the price of Lanvin, whose elasticated ballet flats killed my feet and ended up on ebay when I finally had to throw the towel in for the sake of my heels!

I also got out the pink lipstick and sorted out my pink Opi nail colours in preparation for springs imminent arrival.

  1. Hi Sharron, have been following your blog for a while now and can honestly say I LOVE IT! Great SFTW post yet again. Love all glasses shown. You really should be a pro writer. You are as good if not better than most of the girls in my office!

    1. I am blushing at your comment, thank you very much for the compliment although I was a little unsure whether to publish it or not!

  2. I so wish the ultra high shoe fashion would abate slightly and we'd have more choice with 'normal' high heels and not have to wade through so many towering heels!
The new bag is just a speedy and quite boring to me.
Love those 2 ladies! They look fantastic and it almost doesn't matter what they are wearing because they show their confidence well enough. Adore your pink flats!
I'm planning to get Rayban's aviators-can't beat the originals and keeping options open for some unusual ones.
    Have a fantastic weekend!

    1. I so agree over the high heels, I lust after these towering heels knowing full well I could never walk in them! You can't go wrong with a pair of Rayban aviators, they should always make the wardrobe staple accessories list!

  3. I agree with Couture Coco, its surely about time that the designers come up with better options for 'heels.' Ok, so we all love the high heel, but there is a limit. Am looking round at the moment for a couple of pairs that I can actually wear on a regular basis. One of them has to be another pair of flats as I am wearing my exisiting couple of pairs out.
My last sunglasses were DKNY from the opticians as I had them made into prescription sunglasses! Hey my god I can see when I'm driving!!! and the other plus is, I can read a book without having to swap specs!! Oh the perils of age! Great blog Sharron and fab pics of the 2 ladies who look fantastic.

    1. I should think about prescription sunglasses really but the choice is so limited, I would rather have a wicked pair and not be able to see a thing lol! Thank you for the compliment by the way x

  4. Love your pumps, the colour is gorgeous! :)

  5. No matter how amazing a pair of shoes looks, I just can't wear them if they are too high. I had a very embarrising stumble in some wedge shoes at LFW a few years back, highly embarrising! I really love those House of Harlow sunglasses!

    1. I sit and watch the girls walking on those cobbles with their high heels and wedges and I wonder how on earth they do it!

  6. Those pink flats are stunning and would make a great addition to any wardrobe.

Isn't it great to see woman over 40 looking fab? It proves that we are far from past having an interest in fashion as many think we should be.

    1. So glad there are so many of us believing that fashion doesn't end at 40!

  7. I love those Karen Walker sunnies, it seems like "all the bloggers" are wearing them.
I buy mine from Aldo - they hold up well, don't cost much and I can buy several pairs as I like to change them often.
The over 40s (I'm in that club) look smashing.
And in answer to your last question, I'm lusting over that greenish H&M jacket (we don't have it here yet, but you gave me something to look for).

  8. Great style! That Nancy certainly rocks how cool is she for 51 what a great ad for us ladies !

  9. Out of the three shades on display I would buy the house of harlow ones :-) even though I love Chanel ;-)

  10. I love the pumps, for sunnies I like the classics that have been around for years, there must be something in the shapes that works for 90% of faces. I'm not sure about the strange shaped ones, you have to be really beautiful/fashion to carry them off, otherwise they can have an 'escaped from local loony bin look', (my husband's assessment not mine!)
The staples are tortoise rayban wayfarers, mirrored aviators, gold rimmed aviators, jackie O huge black ones and the slightly more oval persol ones worn by Holly Golightly in breakfast at tiffany's. It's all about the shape though not the make!

    1. I probably will look like something that has escaped from the looney bin, if I love them, I don't care lol!

  11. I love how you are getting organised for Spring, I wish I was getting sorted! Thanks for sharing the pictures of the cool 'over forties' fashion ladies, some of those outfits are inspiring and I've just bought a high street version of the black padded jacket so will be teaming it out with stilletos and skinny jeans. xx

  12. I love those Mykita sunglasses, and the Chanel ones are beautiful. I bought my Tom Ford sunglasses last summer, not sure which ones I will get this year - my main issue is I seem to be drawn to rather pricey sunglasses. I saw a really funky Linda Farrow mens pair in Liberty London - not totally convinced though. I am wondering whether I should go for something completely different from what I already have e.g. aviators - but it's hard to find non plastic framed sunglasses that suit me! x
