Talking of lie-ins, I certainly won't have had one today (this post was drafted last night) because it is the start of London Fashion Week (of course you all knew that already) and I shall be winging my way to the Capital on the red eye (commuter coach) for a day that starts with the Antoni and Alison show at 9am in the courtyard show space at Somerset House! So if you have any interest in Fashion Week proceedings be sure to keep an eye out as I will be tweeting directly from the Cobbles. My youngest daughter will be coming with me but she has her own Agenda with a very exciting project to do for a brand. She is a lucky girl to have been chosen and this will help her tremendously with her Fashion Course at Uni.
So a busy week this week which saw me purchase a gorgeous ring from my-wardrobe.....
Well to be perfectly honest, when I say I bought it, I chose it, put it in my shopping basket and then asked OH for his bank card as I couldn't be bothered to get up and get mine! He duly handed over the plastic as requested and then proceeded to tell me that the ring, along with the three bottles of Chanel nail polish he had bought me the week before could be my Valentines Day present! A bit of a "cop out" I know but at least it beats getting a chocolate lollipop or such like from the village co-op and to be honest we are a bit past celebrating such events these days!
After I put the ring on, I knew it was time to test out the last of the Chanel colours, the only one I hadn't yet tried which was June.....
Its not the greatest of pictures but you get the idea. I really like it just as much as the other two shades in the summer collection.
I also bought some China Glaze Ridge Filler earlier in the week on a trip to Sally's....
I can remember being a teenager and asking my mum why she had ridges in her finger nails. She told me it was because that was what happened when you got old and now I am that woman with the horrible ridges in her nails. The only difference is that I like to paint mine, so short of sanding the buggers down with a high grade sand paper, this is an essential purchase which will enable my nail polish to glide on a little easier and also make it easier to remove, as staining is a nightmare when you have ridges! I have always used a base coat anyway, so it is no different time wise and although on the bottle it says "Top Coat" when you read the instructions, you can use it as a base.
Tuesday saw a trip into town where I spotted a YSL look-e-likey in the window of a local independent boutique.....
I popped inside to find that it cost £45, then whilst on a trip to London the following day, I spotted the real deal in a similar colour in another shop window, that of YSL in Sloane Street......
I couldn't miss out on the opportunity, whilst on the trip to London to have one of my favourite Wagamama's meals, chicken katsu curry, yummy!
It tastes better than it looks honest!
Since the publication of last Friday's SFTW post, New York Fashion Week has started and finished. I haven't caught as much of it as I normally do, but the highlights for me have been Victoria Beckham showcasing her A/W collection at the New York City Library with husband David seated next to La Wintour.... (lucky Anna!)

I see she has no problem removing the trademark Sunglasses and giving the camera a grin wider than a Cheshire Cat when sitting next to such a sexy hunk!
I did manage to watch the Tibi live stream....
and wondered what the heck was going on with the Swallow Print? We have had Swallow or bird print on the High Street all winter, it is still around for Summer and I was quite surprised that a highly acclaimed New York Designer can't think of anything more original to put out for Fall 2012. Enough already.
It was almost as bad as regular "Lorraine" Stylist, Mark Heyes, telling us on the other mornings show to look out for fruit print this season. Anything with oranges or lemons he said. Well hello Mark, did you happen to miss Stella McCartney's SS 11 collection which even saw Dorothy Perkins copy the citrus fruit theme? I would prefer that you told us it was back again this year rather than make out it was something new!
As usual, Michael Kors put out a show that had me lusting after every piece. For me his collection never disappoints, I would wear his clothes any day of the week especially the outerwear which was to die for!

Have a great weekend my darlings and I have put the Daks Banner below, so if you want to click on it at 9am on Saturday morning you will be able to watch their show live streamed straight from LFW! Enjoy!

Great round up - that bag is fab! Enjoy fashion week :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun doll and I'll be checking your tweets so I can be there too:) PS love the bling bling!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great time at LWF. I am so envious. I guess its one of the challenges of emigrating to the US. Watch out next year, I may plan my UK visit to coincide. Of course NYFW is a must too.I just need my hubby to get a raise, or win the lottery, think I am clutching at straws somehow! Oh love the nail polish, as for ridges - its my toes!
ReplyDeleteWow! that ring is very Elizabeth Taylor;-)
ReplyDeleteYes, I thought the same thing about Anna Wintour when I saw that pic. She's usually such a sour-puss; I think it's the first time I've seen her teeth!
Have a lovely weekend x
Nice to see Ms Wintour managing to dredge up a smile for the gorgeous Mr Beckham. God he really is a handsome guy!
ReplyDeleteLovely ring - did you buy the bag?!
Ali x
I hope you are having a great fashion week. I know how you feel about lie ins, I get one per week on a Sunday and if anyone disturbs me woe betide them. I love the ring and the Chanel polish. I kind expect a lot of the same trends to keep coming around again, but I kind of like that as I can wear my clothes for long (not that I ever really let a trend or lack of one stop me wearing something. But to do almost exactly the same thing seems a little uninspired.
