Style Icon - Sarah Jessica Parker, Pretty in Pink, School Run Style and Chanel.

Yet another week in pictures in the glamourous life of one of my favourite style icons.

Pink is one of those colours that many fashion types frown upon, when being worn by a woman over the age of 40 and although pink is one of my favourite colours, I have to confess that I rarely ever wear it, so it was with mixed feelings when I first saw SJP in her Oscar De La Renta gown at the Amfar Fashion Week Gala in New York last week, but on closer inspection, I couldn't help but wonder if it was the colour of her gown that made her complexion look so radiant and well, pink, or was that just the good work of her make-up artist, either way, she blossomed in the gown and despite her advancing years, really does look pretty in pink!

Sadly she didn't look so good on her arrival at the venue.....

Sarah Jessica Parker Clothes

I understand that it may have been cold and that some form of outerwear was required on the night, but the black leather biker jacket is all wrong on so many levels and then the addition of the white gloves just add another fashion faux pas, in my own personal opinion.  I would have added a faux fur jacket which would have been more in keeping with the glamour of the gown, and not gone for a sort of "rock chic edge" in an effort to emulate the daring style of her Carrie Bradshaw alter ego.

Now that's more like it!

Loving this daytime look with the addition of a Chanel bag to add the final touch of sophistication as SJP attends a book launch at Sotherby's.

Sarah Jessica Parker Shoes

I don't think I would ever wear trainers on the school run, but there is no denying Sarah Jessica can pretty much get away with it.  I shall be keeping my Asics for Zumba only!

Which of her looks from last week are you loving?

  1. I love her style, but I agree with you on the biker jacket. I think you're onto something about the pink colour - I once read that women over a certain age carried parasoles in a light shade of pink because it filtered the harsh daylight and gave their complexion a youthful glow. I like pink myself, but it has to be warm shades as this look better on me.

  2. The pink gown is divine but hate the biker jacket! I love the simplicity of the dress and blazer combo she wore to the book launch:)

  4. I actually love her in all outfits but not the added biker jacket to the pink dress. Fav has to be for the book launch though just the sort of look I love. I think I will just have to stick to pink nails to add a statement to my clothes lol xx

  5. She lost me with the biker jacket. For me, pink is more of an accessory that an all over dress color. I would feel like I'm competing with my 7 year old.
